Photographer
My photography journey began at age 16, when my family purchased our first DSLR camera. I started experimenting with it and fell in love with capturing portraits of family and friends. After reading numerous books, completing Katelyn James Photography Courses, upgrading my equipment multiple times, and gaining extensive experience, I have now turned my passion into more than a hobby. I couldn't be happier with my chosen profession.
While photography brings me a great deal of joy, my primary passion will always be centered on my family. My husband Chris is the most amazing man I have ever met, and we have been blessed with a beautiful daughter. I absolutely love being a mother and taking my adventure buddy to all of my bucket-list DC locations! Other than spending time with family, you can find me volunteering with my church, reading teenage fiction books, and watching movies while eating a carton of ice cream.
My approach
Whether this is your first time taking professional pictures or you are an experienced model, my primary goal is always to make my clients feel comfortable. I do this by communicating beforehand about your expectations, noticing and capturing the natural interactions between individuals, and using a posing evolution that allows me to capture a variety of images with minimal movement. Small changes like arm placement, expression, and lens choice go a long way to creating a diverse and fully curated gallery that tells your unique story.

Just do it! Have Sarah to take the pictures because you will be SO happy with the outcome. I brought my 11 year old son to DC for a trip and we decided to have Sarah take our pictures. We met her at the Jefferson Memorial on a chilly Monday morning in April and we had the best time. Cherry Blossoms
Sarah braved the cold with us to take engagement photos in the cherry blossoms. Her bubbly personality kept things light, and she was very efficient. She was very helpful with letting us know when we could briefly put our coats back on between shots and provided excellent direction for our photos. Of course, our photos turned out great! I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again for photos in the future!
